The Technical Secretariat for the INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR IDEAS FOR THE DESIGN OF URBAN RENEWAL ACTIONS IN PLAZA DE LA ENCARNACIÓN AND THE SURROUNDING AREA would like to express their thanks to all of those who have expressed an interest in the same, especially to the 65 teams who have presented proposals. We would also like to apologise for any possible inconvenience caused by the delay in publishing this announcement, a delay caused by unforeseen circumstances for which the Secretariat was not responsible.

The next full meeting of the Jury is herby called for March 9th.

As established in the competition rules (section 6.1) the submission of a CD-ROM containing a digitalised version of the information of the panels is obligatory:

"CD-ROM WITH THE PANELS INFORMATION IN DIGITAL FORM. A CD-ROM CONTAINING EACH OF THE PANELS IN TIFF FORMAT WITH A SIZE OF 42 X 29.7CM AND A RESOLUTION OF 300 PPP WILL BE SUBMITTED".

The modifications in the agenda due to the change in the final submission date for the 1st stage establish that the first jury meeting will take place at 14:00 on February 21st 2004 and it is expected to continue over the following days.

The competition's Technical Secretariat has received numerous enquiries concerning the time and place of documentation submissions. Some competitors have commented that teams working outside Sevile might be at a certain disadvantage due to the fact that the documentation must be submitted at the Municipal Town Planning Offices and not at their local post offices.

Moreover, other teams have commented upon the shortness of the period during which documentation can be submitted, given the complexity of the proposals and the volume of documnetation that needs to be studied, documentation that furthermore was only completed, with the information asked for by competitors themselves, after the informative session and its subsequent replies to enquiries, that took place on December 17th last.

Bearing in mind the above factors, the submission date for the first phase has been put back to February 16th 2004 while the submissions date established as April 23rd 2004 for the second and definitive phase remains unchanged.

Therefore the calendar and reception of works has now been modified to:

Proposals will be submitted and registered until 14:00 hours on Monday February 16th 2004 in:

The documentation can also be submitted via any post office or courier firm, but a fax of the document accrediting the dispatch of the work must be sent to the competition's Technical Secretariat (+34 954480222). This proof of dispatch must arrive before 14:00 hours on Monday February 16th 2004 as mentioned above.

Documentation sent by post or courier must however arrive at the technical secretariat before 14:00 hours on Friday February 20th 2004.

The clarification of point 4.1 of the competition rules, now published in the previous ERRATA has now been added to the downloads section, correcting the transcription error as well as the modifications of point 6.1 "Identification envelope" and point 10.2 "intellectual property".

An error has been detected in point 4.1 in the competitions' rules "Requirements and how to Participate". Below is the corrected point, substituting the previous version:

"Applicants can either compete individually or in teams. A polyhedral vision of the spaces and the activities specified as well as other complementary activities proposed by competitors is recommended. The team's representative must be an architect and/or civil engineer, or have an equivalent qualification that can be convalidated in Spain.Each member of a team can be member of one team only and each competitor or team can only present one proposal."

The clarification of the competition rules, section 2, concerning the sips or "services area" and already published in the answers to competitors' enquiries, is now also available in the rules in the downloads section, thus correcting a transcription error.

Also available in the downloads section is the video summary of the informative session that took place on December 3rd.

The second and latest block of answers to competitors' enquiries has been published on the competition's Website. These deal with the services area, car parking facilities, the metro interchange, the market, archaeology, the rules and other resources. As additional information will continue to appear, we advise you to consult the Website's downloads section regularly .

Documentation in DWG format provided by the Regional Public Works and Transport Ministry's Public Body for the Management of Andalusian Railways concerning Seville's Metro has been incorporated into the downloads section. This point is further clarified in the second and latest block of answers to competitors' enquiries.

In accordance with the established calendar, the first block of answers to competitors' enquiries has been published on the competition's website concerning inscription, rules, documentation, clarifications and incidents. The remaining blocks will be published shortly and a downloads area for will be incorporated into the additional information section

There is new documentation in the Encarnación de Sevilla Competition

Following the calendar established, before december 17th all enquiries and their corresponding replies, and a resume of the informative session that took place on december 3rd, will be published on the competition's Website.

For agenda coordination purposes the following calendar modifications have been introduced:

Informative session: 03.12.03
Enquiries accepted until : 10.12.03
Enquiries replied: 17.12.03

This modification does not affect important dates such as the receipt of proposals for phase one and the following phases.

The informative session will take place next wednesday, on december 3rd, at 12:00 a.m. in the assembly hall of the Escuela Superior de Arquitectura of Sevilla, located at Reina Mercedes Av. s/n, Sevilla.

For agenda coordination purposes the following calendar modifications have been introduced:

Informative session: 28.11.03
Enquiries accepted until : 05.12.03
Enquiries replied: 12.12.03

This modification does not affect important dates such as the receipt of proposals for phase one and the following phases.

A new enquiries section has been created in which competitors can direct their enquiries to the competition's technical secretariat. Following the calendar established, these enquiries and their corresponding replies will be published on the competition's WEBSITE.

The WEB forum for the Encarnación de Sevilla competition is now up and running. This is where we are waiting to receive the opinions, from all who have one to express, either on the global plan or on particular details, now or at any time during the competition. All opinions will be of use in the aim of our project, which is that of reincarnating La Encarnación.
